Supporting Character Analysis

Although the majority of our film features the four main characters that have been previously described, there are two "minor" or supporting characters that can be seen at some point in the film, both of which have their own unique purpose that they serve. These are the Detective and the Police Officer.

The Police Officer
The Police Officer can be seen in the beginning of our film opening, however not much of his body is shown whatsoever. In the film opening, he is seen getting out of a cop car, walking over, and bending down to look at something on the ground (which we later know is a dead body). However, although not much of his body is seen, this doesn't mean that he does not serve a purpose. Besides being the camera's focus in the beginning of the film opening, we can tell a lot about his persona through his walk. He is wearing dark, slim fit pants with black shoes, and once exiting the cop car, walking diligently and powerfully towards the point of interest on the floor. His communication style is not set through words, but more action. The audience can tell that the police officer has a drive to set this case and figure it out. His main motivations are figuring out where the body came from, and who did it.

The Detective
The Detective is the other supporting character that can be seen throughout the film opening. Nothing more than the back profile of the Detective is shown, but we can see that he is wearing a dark jacket. This provides information about his character from the get-go, showing that he is serious about this case as he stares at each main character during interrogation. He has a calm but serious physiological state, keeping his composure through each and every interrogation that he gives. His motives are finding out, amongst the four teenagers, who is responsible for the murder, and especially WHY it happened.
