Mood Board
Main Characters:
The main characters of our movie opening are going to be a group of teenagers that are all drastically different from one another. All of these characters will be high school students, each having their own separate and unique personality and "stereotype". I tried to include this into my mood board through the inclusion of some characters that we may use for inspiration, especially in terms of the outfits of these characters. Since each character will be unique, we will have to make sure we enhance their different personalities though misc en scene while filming.
Setting:
For the setting, the main one will be the mugshot backdrop. The main reason for this is because the majority of our opening will be revolving around each character taking their own mugshot photo, where they each talk and are "investigated". The other setting will be high school, but it won't be the setting majorly focused on. In the mood board, you can see the eerie, empty classroom as well as the mugshot backdrop.
Costumes:
We haven't truly figured out the costumes fully yet, but we have collected ideas for how the costumes will work. (We know for sure that someone will most likely be dressed in a black trench coat tho.) We plan to base most of the character's costumes to match their persona, hence why our group has spent so much time working on creating the main characters. I have included some possible character inspiration in the mood board, which our main characters may dress like.
Lighting:
The lighting for our movie opening will mostly be low key lighting, as it'll help give us the right effect that we are looking forward to portraying in the opening. For the mugshot scenes, we plan to have a single light that dangles above the characters head, that being one of the only sources of light. We need to make sure that we get lighting right, as it becomes extremely important in film.
Props:
Props is another thing that our group needs to work more on, but clearly we will be using props to help enhance the concept of a "police investigation". Things like government documents, fingerprints, mugshot photos, notes, and the such. Another thing that is going to be heavily reliant on props is when/if we show the "crime scene" on camera. Props can make or break a scene, so it is important that our group looks into it more.
