Color Use
Color theory has always been something that has inspired me in the world of media. I loved learning about the pure impact and meaning that color can have in film, and how something as simple as the color of someone's shirt at the right moment can mean so much. I'm glad to say that our group used the color theory when it came to the outfits of each character, something that I am actually REALLY proud of. It's always been something so interesting to me, and being able to implement it into our own film was just an amazing feeling.
Felicity Rox
My character, AKA Felicity, wears a purple sweater vest, a black skirt, leggings, and ballet flats with bright silver jewelry and a silver headband. The reasoning behind her outfit ties back to color theory. Her outfit consists mainly of elegant colors like purple and black- both of which are associated with luxury, power, wealth, and more. The colors of her outfit connect directly with her independent personality, and the audience can look at the colors accentuated in her outfit and understand it's meaning.
Jason Smith
Jacob's character, Jason Smith, can be seen wearing a deep red jacket. This jacket symbolizes his personality, tying into his hot-head like nature and anger issues. Through the use of the color red in his outfit, we are able to symbolize both vigor and anger, both of which Jason deeply embodies.
Simon Peters
Simon can be seen wearing a blue polo shirt, which is there to show and mean wisdom, intelligence, and intuition. Besides adding onto the "nerd" stereotype that he already has, the clothing is meant to tie back to color theory and show that he is different from the other characters in that he is more calm and collected. Myah Flores
Myah can be seen wearing a white undershirt with a green shirt over the top. Myah is known to be very artsy, so the colors in her outfit are meant to show both the "artsy" side of her, as well as the side of her personality that we may not see as often (her anxiety). The light shade of her t-shirt shows her large imagination, but also shows an inventive, healing side of her, tying to how emotional she is.
We also used color theory throughout multiple shots in the film opening. For example, in the very beginning of the film opening, a cop car is shown and followed down a road. The flashing lights of the cop car were made more intense in editing, as a way of highlighting and showing its utter significance in the film.
