Our Script!

Image
Before starting to film, we knew that it would be important for us to plan out what we were going to ACTUALLY say in our film. Even though our initial storyboard has helped us a lot with planning, we felt that since ALL of us are acting in the film opening... and none of us can really ACT... that it would be best if we got together and made a script that we could follow later on.       We ended up FaceTiming each other   this weekend and coming up with a script that we can all follow along with when we end up filming, which is hopefully soon lol. Honestly, making the script was funny because we knew that whatever we were writing down WE were going to have to act ourselves, and as I've said before one of the challenges I think I'm going to face is needing to be serious and act in front of my friends as they watch me. But, it should be entertaining at least, right?      Anyways, here is our script, and it features everything we plan to say when we film as well as our charact

Main Character Analysis

Something that may differentiate our groups film opening from others is that rather than having one main character, we have FOUR. How fun right? But seriously, because since our film opening is based on a murder mystery, it would make sense that we obviously have more than one suspect in order to make an interesting film opening. So, our group created four very unique main characters that each have their own personalities and character traits that differ from one another and give themselves depth in the sake of the plot.  Our characters are Jason Smith (The Jock), Felicity Rox (The Rich/Preppy Girl), Simon Peters (The Nerd), and Myah Flores (The Artsy Girl), and they all attend a private school, all being admitted because of different reasons.  Jason Smith (The Jock) Jason is "the jock" of the group, looking and having the physical characteristics that a typical jock would. He was admitted to the school because of his skill in sports. Also considering that he is pla

Costuming

Costume designing is a very important, yet overlooked aspect of film. I believe that the right costumes can effectively show a character's persona in an innovative way, which is why I personally was so excited to create and choose the costumes for our film opening with my group members. Because we will have 6 very different characters showcased in our film, it is important that we creatively choose their outfit, understanding the backstory behind each one.  Jason Smith- Jock Jason Smith is the character that will be played by Jacob. Jason is a sporty, athletic character that also is a hothead. In order to show both of these important characteristics through Jason's clothes, we have given him a letterman jacket accompanied by some jeans and basketball shoes, although the shoes may not be shown in our film. As shown in the picture, the letterman jacket is the color red. The reason that we chose to match Jason's character with the color red is because the color read symbo

Preparing to Film

Preparing to Film! Day One Run-through   We plan to start filming this weekend, and we will most likely be getting together on the 13th of this month, February, in order to begin filming.    Now that we have created our initial storyboard, our group can think of our first day of filming and how it is going to go. Looking at our first day of filming, it is clear that some aspects of the first day of filming is going to be harder than others. Challenges:      One of the major challenges that we are going to be facing is acting. Clearly, as we are literally just high school students, none of us particularly have acting experience, at least not professional acting. Not only do we have to act well for the sake of our blog not looking cringey or scary, but I also have to act in front of our other group members. Since my group members just so happen to be my close friends, having to be serious and ACT in front of them, is going to be something personally difficult. Another difficulty that w

Initial Storyboard

Image
Here is our initial storyboard:      Our group finally was able to come together and bring our ideas to life, showing in more detail our overall idea for our film opening. It was interesting to have to come up with all the minor details of the story, even things from transitions to lighting was something creatively challenging at first. But, our group was able to come together and each include ideas for our story and bring the story to life on paper. This initial storyboard really helped our group to better envision what we will need to do in order with filming and editing, which is good because the first day of editing is approaching.  Each of us worked on a part of the storyboard, but we still came together when creating the ideas and concepts. :)
