Props!

Props are one of the most interesting parts of misc-en-scene in my opinion. Not only are props able to tell a story without the use of words, but they can even emphasize genre, tone, or even the emotions of a character in that period of time. Our group made sure that we used a lot of different props throughout the film to make sure that our scenes were boring, but the "decorations" and props used still had meaning and importance on screen.

Prop #1

The first prop that we had was a pair of handcuffs that we had each main character wear throughout their mugshots as well as their interrogation scene as well. The inclusion of the handcuffs add to the emphasis of the genre of the film, and is also just an addition to the scene that adds a sense of realism.

Prop #2

The second prop that we had was the Manila File Folders. These folders were placed on the table during the interrogation scene, and were used in the storyline as well. We printed out pictures of ourselves and put them in each folder, so that in the interrogation scene each character can interact with their folder and add it as an element to their scene. I believe that this was really unique, and probably our best prop.

Prop #3

Lastly, another prop that we had wasn't one that we used during filming the bulk of the project, but instead was used during the establishing shot. We had a cop car that was used in the very beginning of the film opening, adding an intense feeling of suspense to the film from the very beginning. The cop car also adds to the genre of the film as well.
