Some Changes To Our Script...

    Hello everyone! Today I wanted to come on here and mention some changes to the script that we made to condense our script overall. Honestly, I'm surprised that I am even making this blog post right now, because quite frankly I thought that we would've had to ADD to our script if anything, not delete from it. Pretty crazy, huh? But anyways, let me explain why we changed our script. 

So originally, one of our major fears when creating the script initially was that we weren't going to have enough dialogue or scenes that would allow us to meet the needed time limit. So, we added a few scenes making sure that we added as much as we could for each. One of these included an "argument" scene, in which all the four main characters: Felicity Rox, Jason Smith, Myah Flores, and Simon Peters all met up in a room after their interrogations and had a conversation that added more depth to the storyline before the film opening ended. However, when filming on our first day, we noticed very quickly that at the pace we were going, there was NO WAY we were going to be able to fit all the scenes in. So, we decided to get rid of the "argument" scene entirely, because in the end we knew that we would still be able to maintain a good, entertaining, and captivating film opening without the inclusion of that last scene. So yeah! This is good for us to know now when we go to record again.

     In class, our next assignment was to create a mood board based on our favorite film genre (also one that we might be considering for the video that we have to create). I am a really big horror/ suspense movie fan, especially ones like The Conjuring or the Saw  movies. Costuming

     Costume designing is a very important, yet overlooked aspect of film. I believe that the right costumes can effectively show a character's persona in an innovative way, which is why I personally was so excited to create and choose the costumes for our film opening with my group members. Because we will have 6 very different characters showcased in our film, it is important that we creatively choose their outfit, understanding the backstory behind each one.  Jason Smith- Jock Jason Smith is the character that will be played by Jacob. Jason is a sporty, athletic character that also is a hothead. In order to show both of these important characteristics through Jason's clothes, we have given him a letterman jacket accompanied by some jeans and basketball shoes, although the shoes may not be shown in our film. My First Attempts At Filming Camera Shots

    Our  first assignment was to create five "sample  films" using the camera on our phones. Basically, I needed to use my friends as props in my videos while I struggled to hold my phone still enough to not make someone nauseous, while ALSO making sure I was recording at the correct angle.  The first sample film that I did was an extreme close up of someone (that someone being my mother) lighting a candle. I thought shooting this in an extreme close up format would be cool, in order to vividly see the lighter light each wick on the candle. Especially since it is close enough to take note of the wax beginning to melt (and also my mother not being able to light one of the wicks). An extreme close up is meant to show extreme detail, and I tried to do that through the lighting of the candle.
