Storyboard on Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Image
In class, we learned about the art of storyboarding and how important it is in the world of film. Storyboarding helps directors and others that are working on films to practically "watch the film" themselves before hiring actors or creating sets etc. Storyboarding is the art of drawing out and planning every single detail about a film, dividing and explaining each scene separately so that it can be fully understood. Everything from characters and props, to camera angles, even to lighting, should be considered. Some of the major challenges when it comes to storyboarding is making sure that every part of a storyboard can be understood not only by you, but anyone else that looks at it as well. Also, there is a lot that should be included to make a complete and amazing storyboard.  I did my storyboard on a scene from Venom: Let There Be Carnage, specifically one of the interactions with Venom and Mrs. Chen.  This is the specific scene: And this is my storyboard:

Mood Board

Image
This is my mood board for my group's movie opening. In the mood board, I tried to incorporate both photos that match the overall vibe of our opening, and photos that resemble our original inspiration for this concept. I thought this would be a good idea, as it shows more about our movie opening and the inspo behind it together in one collage. One of the major things that I'm trying to capture in my mood board is the relation to high school. Both with the characters and setting, it should be made clearer that this story revolves around high school students. Another thing that I tried to capture is the crime scene vibe, mainly by including photos that radiate that energy. My group chose this mood/feeling for our movie opening because we feel that it is a concept that shouldn't be too hard to film/edit, but is also entertaining enough for us to enjoy making and also for any future audience to watch. Main Characters:     The main characters of our movie opening are going to

Our Final Idea For Our Project

Image
I'm excited to be able to say that my group and I have finally got an idea for our project that we are proud of. This is practically a redo of the last blog post I created... because, well, we ended up not wanting to do the whole "apocalyptical" scene, mainly because at the end of the day, we are just four teenagers that don't have any past experience with film. We can't EXACTLY make an award-winning film with CGI... sadly. BUT, I honestly kinda like our new idea more; the entire group seems more excited about it in general, and we are actually able to create different ideas and concepts for it.     So, what is the idea? Well, we decided that we were going to do a film revolving around a crime scene investigation, more specifically a murder. It would revolve around a group of teenagers that get caught up in the crime and get questioned one by one, each character having an entirely different persona and plea. I honestly think it's such a good idea, be

Movie Opener Brainstorming & Research

Image
In this blog post, I will be analyzing and looking at 9 different movie openers created by previous students, taking notes of different elements and parts that stand out or that I personally found interesting. 1. Rise     This movie opener was very high quality, and most likely wasn't filmed using an iPhone. The quality of the opener overall made it much more visually appealing, especially because it was filmed outside and the quality, even with the sun, was crisp. There also was barely any dialogue, with only one of the characters talking once. I realized that this movie opener didn't have anything that made it too difficult to edit, possibly beside the titles that were put at the beginning of the opener. The majority of the audio was a song that was playing, which seemed to create a certain aesthetic and vibe to accompany what was going on in the scene. This opener also used many different transition and editing styles to create a subtle yet significant effect in the end.

My Lovely Group Members

Image
For this blogpost, I have been assigned to blog about my group members, and mention why I chose them and what they contribute to the group. My group members are Aaliyah Alex, Tyler Bedasse, and Jacob Pina. The main reason that I chose to be in this group is because I am very good friends  with all three of them, and I feel that I work better with people that I am already comfortable around. I have known Tyler since kindergarten, Jacob since fourth grade, and Aaliyah since sixth grade, so I have a very close friendship with them all. Of course, I understand that I have to take the workload into consideration, and understand that our work ethic as a group is equally as important as how close of friends we are. I have worked with them on class assignments/projects previously, so I am not worried in the slightest about being a part of this group.  Aaliyah Alex:     Aaliyah and I have been best friends since sixth grade, and since we have had the same classes for a while, I have had man

Plans For Our Movie Opening Project

Image
Opening Sequence Genre: Action/Thriller      For this opening sequence project, I am working with Aaliyah Alex, Jacob Pina, and Tyler Bedasse. We decided as a group that doing an opening sequence on action/thriller would be one of the best genres for us to dive into as a group. Not only would an action/thriller film be interesting in terms of setting, plot, and characters, but also for editing. Since none of the members of my group, myself included, has much experience with editing, making an opening sequence that might allow for a more realistic setting accompanied by a dramatic approach would be interesting for us to do for our project. We as a group are excited to learn more about the action/thriller genre and the components that go along with them. Since we are still learning about film and the elements, I think it would be interesting as we go along and learn more about the process and how we do as a group with filming, editing, and more.

Film Opening Research #2- Red Notice

Image
How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film?     There are 23 different titles that are displayed during the opening sequences to the film, which includes the production companies, director, major actors featured in the film, casting directors, co-producers, visual effects supervisor, music supervisor, costume designer, editors, executive producers, and the title of the film, "Red Notice".  What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?      One of the major images that is prioritized in the opening sequence is the images that show the love story between Antony and Cleopatra in ancient Egypt. Multiple scenes show images of this story, mainly focusing on the introduction of the mystery of Cleopatra's third egg. The remainder of the opening sequence focuses on clips and scenes in which someone is recreating one of Cleopatra's eggs, showing the precise way that it is manufactured.  What connotations do the images carry?      The first maj

Film Opening Research #1- 6 Underground

Image
How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film?       There are two different titles that are displayed during the opening sequences to the film. The first title is shown before the opening sequence, and it reads "Netflix and Skydance present". This first title introduces the audience to the major companies that worked on the film being shown. The second and final opening sequence that is displayed during the opening sequence to the film is at the end of the opening, which reads "6 Underground" in all capital letters. This is the title of the film, and the ending of the opening sequence.  What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?       One of the major images that are prioritized in the opening  sequence is an old, run down plane that has clearly not been used in a long time, as it is broken and has cobwebs and such. Another major image that seems to be prioritized is a group of documents shown on screen that is being looked throug
